Nashville Tennessee Native, Kiya Lacey, is an R&B sensation. The melodic blending of electronic hip- hop tones with harmonic airy vocals casts her in a lane of her own. She writes her truth with lyrics that touch on love, lost, and the honesty of her youth. The first release, however, came in 2013 with writings from her high school teachers; Joe Croker and Scott Myrick. What started as a demo, became the first album release. The album charted in the top 30’s on jazz itunes charts amongst Kiya’s biggest inspirations. Although it did not fully represent the artistic dynamics she envisioned it opened doors for many new collaborative opportunities and shows. Her first live performance outside of school rock bands and choirs, was an opening slot for Brandy. After setting the standard so high she received opening slot for Goapele, and placements in numerous local showcases.

In 2014 she partnered with Phil Moore and The Wonder Twins to release her debut ep “Fail In Love” in spring of 2015. The ep featured local rap talents aswell; Petty and Reaux Marquez. Following the release of the ep sparked the city-wide buzz. Her pink hair and signature balloons branded her and her art as something unique to the Nashville underground music scene. PAPER magazine listed her in the “10 rising Nashville Hip Hop artist” amongst rappers, her sound was crossing into the world of alternative r&b. In 2016 TOKiMONSTA featured Kiya’s vocals on her FOVERE album. In the midst of her transition she released a single “No Mercy” which caught the attention of spotify and led to her Discover Weekly and Alternative R&B placement. At the closing of 2016 came the second ep “Earth, Wind, & Fire” along with a audio visual short film. NPR- World cafe described the project as “projecting girlish femininity through a self-aware lens... burrowing into imaginative, coolly delivered alt-R&B introspection”.

Breaking down barriers as a independent artist, Kiya is fueling her brand solo. 2017 has been a year of discovery and preparation as she dives into hands on production and studying performance art. She has recently joined the Red Bull family and is already rocking their stages. As Red Bull Sound Select’s first woman and first artist of latina descent on the Nashville roster, Kiya Lacey is making history.
